‚Äč1.       Download the queensu.dmg setup file found here:


2.       After the download is complete, locate and click the .dmg file to begin the installation

3.       Click the QAlert Desktop Notifier Installer.mpkg package file


4.       You will then be presented with the QAlert Desktop Notifier Installer screen


5.       Click Continue to begin

 6.       Click Continue again at the Software License Agreement screen

7.       Then agree to the license agreement

8.       Then click Install (you may be prompted to enter administrator's credentials)

9.       Click Finished when setup is complete

10.   You will now notice the QAlert Desktop Notifier icon in the lower right-hand side of the dock


11.   A green check-mark indicates that the notifier is actively communicating with the source (Note: it may take a moment for the green check to appear after you log into the computer- this is normal)

 12.   Click Apple, then click System Preferences

13.   Click Users and Groups


 14.   With your user account highlighted on the left, click Login Items on the top-right

15.   Click the "+" sign to add a new login item

16.   Click Applications, and then select QAlert Desktop Notifier from the list of available applications


17.   Click Add

18.   You will now notice that QAlert Desktop Notifier has been added as a login item for your account

19.   Close System Preferences

20.   Log out and then log back in to ensure that the QAlert Desktop Notifier is running in the Dock

21.   This completes the setup

22.  If an emergency notification is broadcast you will hear three loud beeps followed by a red banner scrolling across the lower part of the screen above the dock (see test message below.)  The banner will contain important information about the emergency and any recommended action
