Date: Wednesday, September 25, 2019
From: Brian Baute
I am happy to share we have begun implementing a modern collaboration & communication platform to replace the existing phone system. The new system, RingCentral, will go live in late November and will bring advanced features key to meeting the needs of a growing, modern university.
In the coming weeks, you'll receive additional communications about important milestones and training opportunities. In the meantime, please take a few moments to review the key points below and keep an eye out for future updates. Your participation is critical for a successful transition to the new system.
What features will the new platform provide?
Everyone with a Queens email address (faculty, staff, students, etc.) will have access to these collaboration features:
- Meetings with Video Conferencing & Advanced Screen Sharing for up to 100 participants (replacing the need to subscribe to Zoom or other conferencing services)
- Individual & Group Instant Messaging
Individuals with a Queens assigned phone number will also be able to:
- Use their Queens phone number for voice calls, faxes, and text messages
- Make & receive calls via desk phone, computer, and mobile app
- Send & receive faxes and text messages via computer and mobile app
- Receive voicemail with transcription in their email inbox
- Make long distance calls to U.S., Canada, and Mexico at no additional charge
Where can I learn more?
Several training sessions & resources will be available to familiarize you with the new platform before launch.
Best,
