Welcome to the Queens faculty! CAFÉ offers orientation and onboarding resources to help you get off to a strong start.
CAFÉ has organized key steps, links to important resources, and answers to common questions for both full-time and adjunct faculty in the Faculty Onboarding Checklist. Please use and share this resource with your new faculty colleagues in the weeks and months before they begin work so they can get off to a strong start. New faculty are welcome to begin reviewing and taking steps outlined in this resource.
You're also invited to explore this interactive welcome guide for new full-time faculty and adjunct instructors. Log in with your Queens password and click the blue Open button to proceed to the Welcome Guide:
Details about the location, times, and agendas of these orientation activities will be emailed to new faculty in early August. If you are a new faculty member with questions about orientation, please contact us at email@example.com.
New full-time faculty beginning in Fall 2020 have been contacted directly by the CAFE Director regarding the timing and format of full-time faculty orientation this summer. CAFE will support new full-time faculty through a combination of real-time (synchronous) and asynchronous online means.
During the following week, there is normally a week of university-, college-, and department-level meetings and activities before classes begin. New full-time faculty should factor these actitivities into their plans for preparing for fall courses.
New adjunct faculty teaching in the Fall 2020 semester are encouraged to join us for an online university-level orientation prior to the start of the semester. We will address key university policies and resources to support you in teaching at Queens. To accommodate adjunct faculty beginning in advance of the staggered undergraduate and graduate academic calendars for the fall semester, two orientations will be held:
Thursday, August 20, 6:30 -7:30 pm, contact Laura Lohman at firstname.lastname@example.org for videoconference access details
Thursday, August 27, 6:30 -7:30 pm, contact Laura Lohman at email@example.com for videoconference access details
